The Magic Voice

In collaboration with The University of Leicester and New Walk Museum, 2013 - 14

An illustration commissioned by the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester as part of the ‘Museum Metamorphosis’ project. For this project I chose to work with the Lyrebird, from the taxidermy collection at New Walk Museum to interpret it’s four-part coordinated song-dance courtship routine discovered by Dr Anastasia Dalziell’s research on lyrebirds in the Australian Dandenong Ranges.

The artwork uses drawings, scanned objects and watercolour to visualise the birds courtship songs and to showcase the Lyrebirds ability to mimic industrial and artificial sounds.
