Bird Portraits

A collection of mixed media drawings and digital illustrations inspired by Lucy’s encounters with birds, from her garden in Leicester, parks and reserves across the UK and abroad. The portraits interpret bird population data into abstract graphs and charts. They also feature birds within a vibrant environment using abstract mark making techniques to represent the sounds of birdsong and to create a boundary between the bird’s habitat and the threats to species numbers from the urban environment, pollution and climate change.
